YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE A NEWCOMER TO DARWIN - ANYONE SEEKING FRIENDSHIP AND BEING INVOLVED IS WELCOME.

The Darwin Ionian Club provides support and friendship, for both newcomers to Darwin as well as those who have been here for a while, with a welcoming social women's network and opportunities for meeting new friends.

All will gather in the early evening to watch the Arafura Wind Ensemble.

DARWIN CLUB'S 36th BIRTHDAY

Members will celebrate the Darwin Ionian Club's 36th Birthday with a High Tea
There are two menu choices - members to choose
and RSVP to the President by Friday 18 September 2026

MONTHLY COFFEE MORNING

Coffee mornings are on the second Thursday of the month February to November
The next morning coffee/tea will be on Thursday 8 October 2026 at 10.00 a.m.

AGM and NEXT CLUB MEETING

Club Meetings are held on the fourth Thursday of the month from February to November
Please Note: There will be no September 2026 Club Meeting due to the Club's Birthday celebrations.

The next Club Meeting will be held immediately after the AGM on Thursday 29 October.
Time: 11.00 a.m.
Venue: Silks Darwin, 11 Dick Ward Drive, Fannie Bay.
Note: This meeting in on the fifth Thursday of the month and at a new time of 11.00 am
as some members will be attending the 14th Ionian Convention in Launceston during the fourth week of the month.

Guests are welcome by invitation to our coffee mornings, Club Meetings
and any other activity (see below).

The Darwin Ionian Club offers various indoor activities such as Book Club, Mah Jong and Scrabble:

The Book Club is on the first Monday of the month (February to November), or second Monday (due to public holidays or other reasons).
The next Book Club will be on Monday 5 October 2026 at 11.30 a.m. at the Trailer Boat Club. Lunch follows.

Mah Jong is on Tuesdays each week 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. then lunch (bring your own lunch)

Scrabble is on Saturdays at 10.30 a.m. at the Nightcliff Sports Club.
Note: Scrabble is usually played fortnightly, but at the moment play is temporarily suspended due to availability of players.

After attending three (3) activities (with one attendance at a Club Meeting), the Membership Secretary will ask you
if you would like to continue with the Darwin Ionian Club as you would have met the eligibility criteria for membership.

Social Outings for Members/Friends/Partners :
From time-to-time members and their partners and/or friends gather for a day event or a fun evening.
(Note: The August car rally and visit to The Purple Mango Cafe and Brewery at Marrakai has been postponed to the 2027 dry season.)

Outings around and outside Darwin for members and guests will be advised on this page during the year.

In 2026 in early August there was an enjoyable gathering at Cullen Bay lawns; early July we took the ferry to Mandorah to have lunch at the Cox Country Club; in June a small group met at the Nightcliff Jetty before and after sunset. In 2025 members and friends visited the Bumble Bean Chocolate Factory. In 2024 we had a picnic at Cullen Bay as well as enjoying a game or two at the Darwin Bowls Club.
Other activities included visits to: Burnett House for Devonshire Tea; Care Flight tour and talk at the Darwin Airport (a very informative visit); and Bumble Bean Chocolates (always an interesting experience on creating chocolates). One time in the dry season we held Australia's Biggest Morning Tea for the NT Cancer Council at the beautiful Berry Springs Nature Park. A car rally also in the dry season for members and their partners and friends was very successful at The Purple Mango Cafe, Marrakai. It was very interesting driving through the countryside looking for answers to the quiz. Our quiz answers were known when we arrived at the lunch venue.
